Ferry repaired after engine malfunction

Ferry in Genova seized

Seven Moroccan sailors who have not received salaries for months and were hundreds of miles away from home remained stranded aboard the "Le Rif" moored in the ship repair area of Genova. The ship's galley is empty, and the sailors have no money to buy food. LE RIF, ex- IMTC, was acquired by a new Moroccan operator – Detroit World Logistic Maritime (DWLM) – in 2016 with a view to upgrading her and putting her into service on the Algeciras-Tangier Med route. She initially went into dry-dock in Malaga, but after various disputes over the work to be done, and the cost, the vessel was towed to Naples.
