Freighter towed to Ålesund

On Oct 14, the "Mekhanik Brilin" was towed back to Ålesund short after having sailed to Bordeaux in the morning.A tug took it in tow off Godøya in the Brei Sound and pulled to Steinshamn. Engine failure off Arkhangelsk

The "Mekhanik Brilin", while entering the ice channel opposite timber jetty No. 25 in Archangelsk, carrying a cargo of 3585 metres of sawn timber, experienced a main engine failure and became stuck in ice on March 16, 2018, at 06.17 a.m. On March 17 at 1 a.m. the vessel moored at the timber jetty with the help of a tug and an icebreaker, and repairs to the main engine commenced. The ship sailed again on Apr 30.

MEKHANIK BRILIN 8904408

At 1252 LT Feb 17, 2011, the "Mekhanik Brilin" ran into the stern of the "Soyana" while , both vessels were proceeding in heavy ice fields 0.6-0.7 metres thick, being guided by the icebreaker "Dikson" from Arkhangel port. The "Mekhanik Brilin" didn’t suffer any damages and proceeded as scheduled with timber cargo destined for Bordo. The "Soyana" with 2422 mt scrap on board suffered serious damages, hull and superstructure were holed and teared, no water ingress, but vessel reported by master as being not seaworthy.
