Moby in Ferry-Swap Agreement with DFDS

Danish ferry and logistics company DFDS has reached an agreement with the Italian ferry company Moby to acquire its the two combined freight and passenger ferries (ro-pax). The company decided to purchase the ships, the 2001-built Moby Wonder and the 2005-built Moby Aki, in order to expand capacity on the Amsterdam-Newcastle route. Moby will in turn acquire the two passenger ferries currently operating on Amsterdam-Newcastle, King Seaways and Princess Seaways, built in 1987 and 1986, respectively. The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of October 2019. DFDS will subsequently bareboat-charter King Seaways and Princess Seaways from Moby until January and February 2020, respectively.

Baltic spell for PRINCESS SEAWAYS

To cover for the drydockings of ro-pax tonnage in the Baltic, DFDS's PRINCESS SEAWAYS will be withdrawn from the IJmuiden-North Shields (Newcastle) route during February/March and will operate for six weeks between Karlshamn and Klaipeda, starting on 7 February.

Medevac in English Channel

On Oct 13, 2018, at 02.57 a.m. the Danish Radio Medical Service coordinated the medevac of a patient from the "Princess Seaways" in the English Channel. The operation was conducted by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center Humber as the ferry was in British territorial waters.
