Hyundai Heavy Industries wins Kaliningrad floating LNG tender

Hyundai Heavy Industries has won the Gazprom Flot tender for the construction of the Kaliningrad floating LNG terminal, Gazprom said. Other bidders for the tender included Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and Samsung Heavy Industries.A 3.5 km pipeline will run from the vessel to shore near the Kulikovskaya wind power plant at the southern end of the Curonian Spit. The contract for the facility will be signed in May, with the floating terminal to be delivered by November 2017.The Kaliningrad FLNG may be the first gas provider for the region, but will be “subsequently replaced by the Baltic LNG project”, Gazprom noted on its website.
