n the Luebecker Bight there is thin very open ice, in the southern part 15-30 cm thick open ice. In the port of Travemuende 15-30cm thick close ice, in the port and bay of Neustadt 10-15 cm thick very close ice.
On the river Elbe 10-15 cm thick open ice at Hamburg, farther out over 30cm thick close ice at Stadersand, from Glueckstadt to Brunsbuettel thin open ice and from Cuxhaven to Neuwerk 10-30cm thick open to very open ice.
In the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland 25–45 cm thick fast ice in the archipelago. Farther out, 25–40 cm thick, heavily ridged very close ice and in places areas covered with new ice. Off the Estonian coast there is 10–30 cm thick very close ice. In the Bay of Vyborg, 30–45 cm thick fast ice. Off St. Petersburg there is 40–55 cm thick fast ice to Tolbuhin. Farther out, 20–35 cm thick very close ice to Vaindlo.
Inner waters north of Stralsund are covered with fast ice. From Stralsund to Freesendorfer Haken there is 20-40cm thick compact ice. In the Greifswalder Bodden mostly 10-15 cm thick close to compact ice with some areas of open water, at the coasts about 30 cm thick fast ice.
