The repair work of new Brunsbüttel north lock is finished. North locks will be reopened to traffic after testing on the weekend, on Monday, April 29. From Monday on the south locks will be closed for traffic for abt. 3 months. In June/July the repaired north lock will be reopened and the south lock repairwork will continue till the end of the year 2013. Both old smaller locks are now fully operational.

Emergency repairs to the Big South Lock Chamber at Brunsbuttel have been completed and the lock chamber is since March 14 midday back in service.

Both new big locks and one small (old) lock in Brunsbuettel in the Kiel Canal are closed since yesterday evening(March, 6) until further notice. For at least two weeks, only vessels with a maximum LOA of 125m, beam of 20.50m and freshwater draft of 6.50m, depending on the tide, will be able to transit the Canal. One of the big locks could be reopened in 14 days.

Employees of the WSA Brunsbüttel plan a 24-hrs strike at Brunsbüttel Kiel-Canal locks lasting from 06.00 a.m. until 06.00 a.m. of the next day March, 01.

The Kiel Canal authorities have announced that repair works at the big north lock at Brunsbuettel has been postponed until the middle of next week (Feb.13,2013). During the day time, the new south lock at Brunsbuettel will undergo diver inspections and repairs. By night,it will also be available up to a length of 205 metres. The old locks are in service as usual. As soon as repairs at the south lock are completed, the north lock will be taken out of service.

Kiel-Canal Authority announced on Oct. 18, 2012 that the New Big South Lock Chamber in Brunsbüttel will be taken out of service due to urgent repairs until end of December 2012. The New Big North Lock Chamber together with both small old locks will remain in service. Depending on traffic volume delays can expected.

According to Kiel-Canal authorities newsletter from today, Oct. 12 2012, the big north lock in Brunsbüttel will be out of service from Monday, 15.10.2012 07:00 hrs until Tuesday, 16.10.2012 abt. 17.00 hrs. The new big south lock chamber and both small lock chambers remain in service. Maximum ship length is 205m.

Big south lock in Brunsbüttel is again in service during nighttime between 5 pm (evening) and 7 am (morning). During daytime working hours the lock is closed until further notice. The new big north lock chamber and both small lock chambers remain in service.
