Detention in Maputo

Wed Jan 17 09:57:28 CET 2024 Timsen

The 'Volopas' with 30 crew members on board, which has been moored at the port of Maputo, Mozambique since Apr 29, 2023, was detained on Jan 12, 2024, as the owner of the vessel has stopped allocating funds for the vessel's maintenance, leading to debts with the servicing companies and the services of the port of Maputo. The Russian Embassy in Mozambique was working on the return of the Russian crew and taking all the possible measures. The port representatives refused to provide the crew with the necessary documents to undergo passport and visa procedures at the migration service for subsequent repatriation. The Russian embassy sent notes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, the National Migration Service, and the Border Police Department of Maputo with a request for assistance from the competent authorities in the matter of repatriation of the crew members. Among them were citizens of Ukraine and Lithuania, with their embassies engaged in negotiations with local authorities for three months.

Ship alleged of illegal fishing

Thu Jul 23 11:21:18 CEST 2015 Timsen

THe "Adexe Primero" was arrested by Russian Guards for alleged illegal fishing in Russian waters in the Arctic. The Ministry of Agriculture has not received the inspection report although the protocols were underway to provide consular support to the only Spanish crew member on board. The Spanish Government contacted the General Directorate for Fisheries of the European Commission (EC) and the Embassy of Spain in Russia to carry out procedures in order to provide that support. The vessel had eight crew members and was intercepted by Russian guards when they were catching king crab in international waters managed by the Regional Fisheries Organisation of the North East Atlantic (NEAFC). The Russian Coast Guards intercepted the fishing vessel after locating several fish traps having foreign labels within its exclusive economic zone, some of which apparently belonged to the Adexe Primero. Ship's representatives claimed that at no time they have entered the 200-mile strip of Russia and the traps that have been found could have been moved by a trawler during their operations. According to the Russian border guards in the area, Lilia Moroz, the ship was not being arrested at present. Anyway, it was transferred to Murmansk on July 20, 2015, to initiate an investigation for alleged illegal fishing.

Lithuaninan trawler fisher lost over board

Tue Mar 26 09:49:56 CET 2013 Timsen

On Mar 25, 2013, at midnight, the Norwegian Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) finally stopped the search for a man who went missing from the "Adexe Primero" 26 nautical miles west of Haugesund in the afternoon as it was thought to be impossible to survive under such conditions. It was assumed that the man has died. The trawler and the Norwegian Coastguard vessel "Bergen" remained on site during the night, but the rest of the vessels were called back. The RCC was alerted about a man overboard at 5.53 p.m. A rescue helicopter, the lifeboat "Bergen Kreds", two Coastguard vessels and about ten other ships assisted the "Adexe Primero" in the search for the 38 year old citizen of Lithuania The "Bergen" had the on-scene command in the search area whhich was three nautical miles in the north-south direction
