Fishing vessel struck rocks

Wed Oct 27 09:47:12 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Albamar' struck the rocks in the inlet channel of the port of Aveiro due to an equipment failure on Oct 20, 2021. The incident did not result in any injuries or pollution. An investigation into the incident was underway.

Fishing vessel grounded in storm

Fri Apr 27 19:18:18 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Albamar" suffered engine trouble in bad weather while en route to fishing grounds in Uruguayan waters in the night of Apr 11, 2018, and subsequently grounded at the summer resort of Piriapolis, Maldonado. The vessel with its nine crewmembers were seeking refuge from a storm in the bay of Piriapolis and dragged anchor, ending up drifting to the beach. On Apr 14, the tug "Matrero" started to refloat the fishing vessel, and despite the towing line breaking twice during the salvage operations, the tug finally managed to tow the fishing vessel into the port of Montevideo. There was no damage to the vessel's hull or engine and no injury to any member of the crew, and it was back in service on Apr 26.

Grounded fishing vessel salvaged

Sun Apr 15 11:27:02 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Albamar" was pulled off the beach of Piriápolis de Maldonado with a tug and towed to the port of Montevideo with all its crew on board on Apr 14, about 48 hours after the incident. The towing wire broke at least twice before the salvage succeeded. The "Albamar" had sheltered from a storm off the coast of Piriápolis on Apr 11 near midnight but dragged anchor and drifted onto te beach. The Subprefecture of Piriápolis closely had followed the incident with personnel and boats.
