Sank off the coast of Malta after midnight on October 11 2010. The entire crew of 16 was successfully rescued. The Search and Rescue Coordination first received a distress signal from the ship, the Ayhur KRK, at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday October 10. MRCC contacted sunken ship’s captain, Erol Sengul, after the crew of the Ayhur KRK boarded the Acuncagua Bay. Sengul said the vessel was heading from France to Egypt and that they had abandoned ship at 00:30 a.m. Vessel was disabled after main engine failure, then water started to ingress through stern shaft pack, crew was unable to control flooding, master ordered 16 crew to evacuate after stern sank deck awash, vessel was some 130 nm SE off Malta. Crew disembarked in Bengaleze Lybia. Vessel was loaded with 4399 mt wheat.
