MMEA detains Sierra Leone-registered vessel off Pulau Indah
A ship registered in Free Town, Sierra Leone, has been detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) for suspicion of storing diesel without proper documentation and anchoring without permission in Pulau Indah waters. In the 10.15am incident on Wednesday, MT Baltic Unity was detected by MMEA's patrol boat on duty anchored near Port Klang waters. Klang Maritime Enforcement chief First Admiral Maritime Mohd Aliyas Hamdan said the officers on duty inspected the ship and found oil supply stored inside the ship without proper documentation. The ship was storing some 200,000 litres of diesel worth about RM320,000. "The vessel was also found to be anchoring without permission. Three crew members including a Myanmar national aged between 21 to 55 years old were detained and taken to the Klang Maritime District office for further investigation," he said in a statement, here, yesterday.
