Adverse weather continues to hamper ferry service
After the 'Blue Star 1', which had hit the central pier of the port of Naxos on Nov 27, with its starboard side stern and continued its scheduled route to the ports of Paros and Piraeus with 523 passengers and 81 crew members on board after being re-certified, on Nov 28 at noon the ferry was unable to disembark the vehicles at the port of Naxos en route from the ports of Piraeus and Paros due to adverse weather conditions despite two attempts to re-approach the port. The ship finally set sail to continue its approved route to Ios and Thira. At the port of Ios, 31 passengers, six vehicles and threetwo-wheelers were waiting to board, while aboard the ship, 39 passengers and eleven 11 vehicles were waiting to disembark.
Allision in Naxos
In the port of Naxos, the 'Blue Star 1, en route from the port of Piraeus, allided with a wharf while manoevering back to its berth in the early afternoon of Nov 27, 2023. During the disembarkation process, it was realized that an ambulance had not managed to get off the ship, as a result of which an attempt was made to re-approach the port of Naxos and an impact was caused. As a result a sailing ban was issued. The ship finally left the port of Naxos shortly after 8:30 p.m. and continued its service on the Thira-Naxos-Paros-Piraeus route. Anchor trouble in Paros
The Port Authority of Paros was informed that the 'Blue Star 1', en route to port of Piraeus, could not completely raise the starboard anchor during the vessel's departure from the port of Paros due to a damage to the capstan in the morning of Julx 19, 2023. The vessel continued its voyage to the port of Piraeus, where it arrived safely and disembarked the 993 passengers. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus prohibited the departure of the 'Blue Star 1' until the capstan was repaired and the anchor was fully raised. Following the issue of a class maintenance certificate by the monitoring classification society, the ship was allowed to continue its scheduled service.
