Man died after falling from a height

Fri Oct 21 11:29:36 CEST 2016 Timsen

The Northumbria police launched an investigation into the death of a man who fell from a height on the "Brasschaat" on Oct 20, 2016, at 2.30 p.m. The RNLI assisted by taking North East Ambulance Service paramedics out to the ship. Crew members from the ship were doing CPR and there was a doctor there as well. A Coastguard helicopter was sent from Humber to the vessel which was moored 1,5 kilometers off Tynemouth, North Tyneside. Crew members were winched off afterwards. The ship is one of three Belgian vessels which have been moored off the coast of North Tyneside for months. All three of them have been inspected at the Port of Tyne and checked over for welfare, conditions and the pay of the crew. The "Vyritsa", "Brasschaat" and "Zarechensk" are owned by by Belgian company Sobelmar and currently run by India-based Bernhard Schulte Ship Management, and were waiting to be auctioned off.
