New drilling rig delivered in E. China

A new deep-water, semi-submersible rig was delivered to its domestic purchaser in east China's Shandong Province on Thursday.The rig, "COSLPROSPECTOR", left the deep-water wharf of its builder, Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Limited in Yantai City and was delivered to China Oilfield Services Limited.With an accommodation for 130 people, " COSLPROSPECTOR " can operate in seawater of up to 1,500 meters and drill to a depth of 7,600 meters, according to the builder. It can resist winds of up to 117 km per hour. The Yantai shipyard has produced nine deep-water semi-submersible rigs since 2010. Source: Shanghai Daily

COSL Takes Delivery of Newbuild Seimsub COSLProspector from CIMC Raffles

Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Limited announced Wednesday that COSLPropsector (mid-water semisub), the fourth deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig built by CIMC Raffles for China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), has been delivered in Yantai, Shandong, China. Adopting the most advanced design concept and being satisfied with the global strictest standards, it can work in the harsh Norwegian North Sea. The COSLProspector is a DP3 vessel with length of 343 feet (104.5 meters), width of 231 feet (70.5 meters), height of 123 feet (37.55 meters), and an operating depth of 4,921 feet (1,500 meters), a drilling depth of 24,934 feet (7,600 meters) and a designed operating temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius. A maximum variable deck load of 5,000 tons, the multifunction platform is also able to accommodate 130 personnel. It is classed by DNV and CCS, and satisfied with the strictest standards of PSA and NORSOK. Equipped with 10,000 controllers and alerts, the remote monitoring can be achieved in this high-automatic unit.On the base of GM-4000 series, COSLProspector is jointly designed by AG (Agility Group), COSL and CIMC Raffles.

Newbuild COSLProspector Semisub Commences Sea Trial Offshore China

Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Limited reported Wednesday that COSLProspector (mid-water semisub), the fourth semisubmersible drilling rig provided to China Oilfield Services Ltd. (COSL), set off on a sea trial today under the supervision of Yantai Harbor Pilotage and Beihai Resure Bureau in China. This sea trial, organized by CIMC Raffles, COSL, DVN, CCS, Rolls-Royce, Simens and Congsburg, aims to commission and test 609 sub-systems and 70 systems, including thrusters, PMS, DP, Close Ring, FMEA, communication, endurance capability, automatic cabin, lifesaving and mooring. During the sea trial, the engine management system close ring test will be applied for the first time to the semisubmersible. Compared with usual power distribution design, it will reduce dynamos and 5 percent fuel. This environmentally-friendly system will be the mainstream power distribution design in high-performance semisubmersible drilling rig. COSLProspector is 343 feet (104.5 meters) long, 231 feet (70.5 meters) wide, 123 feet (37.55 meters) high. The DNV and CCS-class semisub can operate and drill at depths up to 4,921 feet (1,500 meters) and 24,934 feet (7,600 meters), respectively and has accommodation for 130.
