Cargo ship sank, captain died of heart attack
The 'Toan Phat 68' sank in the South China Sea four miles off Qui Nhon port, Bình Dịnh Province, on Nov 30, 2019, at 10.30 a.m. The ship, being loaded with 2.950 tons of clinker, was en route from Hai Phong to Can Tho, and got caught in stormy weather in which it capsized because of a cargo shift. The 11 crew members went into life rafts and rescued by an SAR boat at noon. The captain, however, suffered a cardiac arrest and could not be resuscitated.
Cargo ship sank fishing vessel
The "Dong Phong 68" was in collision with the fishing vessel "BTh-96818 TS" in the afternoon of July 27, 2016, in the South China Sea off Mui Ne in the Binh Thuan Province. The fishing vessel sank, four of its crew members were rescued by the freighter which was loaded with 2550 tons of fertilizers en route from Vung Tau to Nghe An.
