Fire in port soon contained

Wed Feb 07 19:11:11 CET 2018 Timsen

When about to leave the port of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, a short circuit occurred on the "Lae Divine Amand Thime - CH .614197", 30 gt, on Feb 7, 2018. at 1.30 a.m. in connection with a leakage, causing the start of a fire. The master called the fire department, and the firefighters from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and Cherbourg-en-Cotentin arrived very quickly on site, thus limiting the damage. In the morning, a local company went on site to carry out repairs so that the "Lae-Divine-Armand-Thime" was expected to resume fishing in the night.

Injured fisherman stuck in hold after fall on board

Wed Dec 13 10:40:17 CET 2017 Timsen

On Dec 11, 2017, a fisherman aboard the "Lae Divinge Aman" fell from the deck into the hold of the trawler off the coast of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (Calvados) in heavy swell in the storm Ana. The man was injured and found himself stuck in a very small space inside the hold. The trawler was fishing scallop shells near Bayeux when the accident happened around noon. The ship returned to Port-en-Bessin-Huppain around 2:30 p.m., where the victim was taken care of by the fire rescue. But the intervention turned out to be more complicated than expected. With the corridor of the hold being very narrow, it was impossible to place the wounded on a stretcher. The firefighters of the Groupe de Reconnaissance et d’Intervention en Milieu Périlleux (GRIMP) then intervened with a specific stretcher with which the man could be pulled through a hatch vertically. The man in his forties had suffered a fracture and back pain. He was taken to Bayeux Hospital.
