Medevac off Antifer

The CROSS Jobourg intervened on Sep 25, 2017, off Antifer to assist a crew member of the "Sagittaire" who had suffered a hand injury. At 4.20 p.m., the CROSS was alerted by the fishing vessel which was 18 nautical miles north of Antifer, near Le Havre. The Cross immediately started a conference call with the Maritime Medical Advisory Center (MCCC) in Toulouse and the Maritime Medical Coordination (SCMM) in Le Havre. A medical evacuation was decided. At 4.45 p.m. a Dragon 76 of the Civil Protection took off and arrived in the area around 5.30 p.m. The fisherman was hoisted on board the helicopter and taken to the Jacques-Monod hospital in Le Havre.

Skipper thanked emergency services and people of Dartmouth

Stephane Andre, skipper of the "Sagittaire", thanked the emergency forces who assisted his and the "Saint Christophe"'s crew as they toppled at the Town Quay in Dartmouth. Stephane and his crew of four slid down the stern into the Dart RNLI inshore lifeboat which had pulled up alongside to rescue them. A simultaneous rescue operation took place a few metres along the quay on the sister vessel. Fire crews bridged a gap between the embankment and fishing boat using a 10-metre ladder. While the "Sagittaire" managed to right itself when the tide came back in, the "Saint Christophe" capsized and came to rest on its side on the River Dart seabed. An investigation will be started to determine what caused the vessels to get into such trouble. The incident happened during the spring tide when the water level on the River Dart changed from excessively high to low. The skipper will remain in Dartmouth until the "Saint Christophe" has been refloated. At the moment there was a boom in place and there is no sign of a leak. There was a 24-hour watch and a team of people was working around the clock to make sure there was no hazard. The salvage operation will be carried out including the teams of insurers, the crews, underwriters, the owner, the Maritime Coastal Agency, the Maritime Management Organisation, Natural England, South Hams District Council, and even the Duchy of Cornwall, which owns the seabed. Sagittaire threatened to capsize in Dartmouth

On Mar 10, 2016, short past midnight the "Sagittaire" and "Saint Christophe" started listing to starboard on the River Dart on the South Embankment in Dartmouth. At 12.35 a.m. fire crews from Paignton, Kingsbridge and Totnes, together with supporting appliances from Totnes were alerted and joined by forces of the Coastguard lifeboat to the three French pair trawlers from Cherbourg which had sought shelter in Dartmouth Harbour from the very rough conditions at sea. Two of them, the "Sagittaire" and the "Saint Christophe" , were tied up to the Town Quay and were listing severely, also there was a report of a fire on board one and both crews needed evacuation. The Dart inshore lifeboat evacuated three of the crew from the "Sagittaire" over the stern and then returned for the next two, one of whom had to be lowered from the transom with a rope. The two crews were taken to the lifeboat station for hot drinks and to warm up. A boom was placed round the vessel by the Dart Harbour Authority vessel "Hercules". The Fire Service sent two Appliances from Dartmouth, one from Kingsbridge and a pump and a Command Unit from Totnes. They rescued the crew of five of the "Saint Christophe" by ladder and established that there was no fire. The spring tide was at its lowest at 12.33 a.m. and it became apparent that the "Saint Christophe" was not re-righting herself. The lifeboat crew were asked to try and establish whether there was internal flooding in the vessel. They did so and found it to be severe. The "Saint Christophe" submerged with the rising tide and posed a potential pollution risk. She had on board between 10 and 15 tons bunker fuel. An oil boom was laid out around the capsized trawler.
