Trawler disabled off Algiers
in the afternoon of Jan 11, 2019, the "Stéphane-Cardone" broke down at one mile from the port of Algiers. The volunteers of the National Society of Sea Rescue (SNSM) were alerted by the Semaphore. The "Stéphane-Cardone" was drifting about a mile from the port of Sète after the propulsion loss. The lifeboat "Admiral-Leenhardt" took the trawler in tow and pulled it back to the Algiers wharf. Triple collision in Sète
In the port of Sète, the trawler "Charles Gilberte II" crashed into the "Stéphane Cardone" which struck the 12-m-fishing boat "Cécile Marion" that ended up sinking at the Aspiran Herbert Dock in the city centre on Feb 27, 2017, at 3 a.m. The accident happened following a false maneuver, when the "Charles-Gilberte II - ST.900283", 134 gt (MMSI-No.: 228242800), which was docked right in front of the Regional Center of Contemporary Art, sailed into the stern of the "Stéphane-Cardone - ST.819573", 100 gt. No one was hurt. The fire rescue laid out an anti pollution barrier to prevent the diesel escaping from the small craft to spread in the canal. The "Stéphane Cardone" was dry-docked to assess the damage. A crane would have to raise the "Cécile Marion" the bow of which was still sticking out of the water at a steep angle.
