Mon Sep 21 13:47:48 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Sep 20, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. the 991 of the 418 Squadron of the 189 Submarine Brigade of the Vietnam Navy towed the 'Globe 6' safely to Cam Ranh Bay. Ship shifted to anchorage

Mon Aug 24 12:49:38 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Globe 6' which ran aground at Barangay Semirara on Aug 12, has now been shifted to the Semirara anchorage during high tide on Aug 18 at 9.30 a.m. in Barangay Semirara, Caluya, to undergo hull inspections before it can proceed to its destination. Since the vessel did not suffer any damage, the crew members started the engine to move it away from the coral reef. The barge of the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) was no longer tapped to move the vessel to the anchorage. The vessel, which left Ho Chi Minh port on Aug 6, was supposed to transport 113,000 bags of rice under consignment to Davao Port when it ran aground. The 17 crew members remained on board all the time as a preventive measure against the coronavirus disease.

Grounded ship to be lightered

Sun Aug 16 13:58:32 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Aug 15, the 'Globe 6' was to be towed off the shores of Barangay Semirara in Caluya town between Nagubat Island and Liwagao Island. The ship, staffed with 17 crew members, had departed Ho Chi Minh port on Aug 6, carrying 113,000 bags of rice bound for Davao Port. Wile passing Barangay Semirara on Aug 12, the vessel ran aground on a coral reef off Antique. The local agent of the vessel was now negotiating with the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) in Barangay Semirara for a tug to refloat the ship after the cargo has been transferred to a barge. An underwater investigation was conducted by the PCG boat BRP 'Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411)' and other concerned government agencies on Aug 14, and no hull damage was found. According to the ship’s Master, Captain Nguyen Hoai, the Officer On Watch (OOW) fell asleep when the incident occurred.
