Passengers accused security guards of beating them up

The three passengers Grant Fagan, 31, Ross Millar, 32, and Paul Thomson, 29, of the 'King Seaways' have accused security guards on the ferry of beating them up when they were travelling from Amsterdam to Newcastle on an overnight DFDS sailing after working in Germany. The Danish ferry company DFDS was co-operating fully with the investigation. after a report was made to police of the assault of three men on board a ferry between Amsterdam and Newcastle.

Ferry service remains suspended

The DFDS Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry service has been suspended until June after having been temporarily halted due to the coronavirus outbreak. The suspension will now run up to and including June 3 at the earliest. Due to continued Government measures intended to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus, the 'King Seaways' remains sidelined in Ijmuiden where it berthed on March 23.

Moby in Ferry-Swap Agreement with DFDS

Danish ferry and logistics company DFDS has reached an agreement with the Italian ferry company Moby to acquire its the two combined freight and passenger ferries (ro-pax). The company decided to purchase the ships, the 2001-built Moby Wonder and the 2005-built Moby Aki, in order to expand capacity on the Amsterdam-Newcastle route. Moby will in turn acquire the two passenger ferries currently operating on Amsterdam-Newcastle, King Seaways and Princess Seaways, built in 1987 and 1986, respectively. The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of October 2019. DFDS will subsequently bareboat-charter King Seaways and Princess Seaways from Moby until January and February 2020, respectively.
