Grounding on the Rhine
In the morning of Sep 26, 2016, the "Kurt Herbert", 1507 ts (EU-No.: 04700760), ran aground on the Rhine at Germersheim within the fairway. Ships could only pass individually. The ship suffered a leak. Several attempts to refloat the ship initially failed. Only after part of the 1400 tons cargo of wire rolls were transferred onto a lighter ship with a special grab the following afternoon the casualty could be pulled off on Sep 27 at 7.30 p.m. and towed to the port of Germersheim.
