Collision in Copenhagen in stormy weather
During the docking manoever of the 'MSC Poesia' in Copenhagen on the evening of Oct 3, 2025, the new electric tug 'Svitzer Ingrid' (IMO: 1037311), which was assisting, lost control of the cruise ship, resulting in a collision of both ships. The 'MSC Poesia' suffered slight damage such as abrasions at the starboard side bow above and on the height of the water line. The docking maneuver, however, was subsequently aborted, and the 'MSC Poesia' didn't dock until 20 hours later, on Oct 4 at around 5 p.m. UTC. TInstead of heading to the port of Warnemünde, where the cruise was to end, the ship diverted to Kiel, which was deemed more safe. It berthed at the Ostsee Quay on Sep 6 at around 5 a.m. and left the port again at 10 p.m. en route to Sandnes with an ETA as of Oct 8. The tug had to be taken out of operation and has been docked at the Vigeroe Yard in Odense for repairs on Oct 6. Photos: https://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=224629#p224629
Medevac off Warnemünde
A 67-year-old passenger of the 'MSC Poesia' had to be medevaced on the evening of Aug 17, 2025, north of Rostock-Warnemünde. The MRCC of the DGzRS in Bremen was notified at around 5:30 p.m.: The man had suddenly become seriously ill and had to be brought ashore immediately. At that time, the cruise ship was approximately 2,5 nautical miles from Warnemünde. The MRCC mobilized the lifeboat 'Bremen', which already was on a patrol and training task and immediately changed course. The two ships rendezvoused outside the fairway near Outer Road 1. The cruise ship reduced its speed, and the lifeboat went alongside. The patient was safely transferred in calm seas and light winds. On board the 'Bremen', the sea rescuers provided medical care to the man. In Warnemünde, the land-based rescue service was awaiting him. The cruise ship continued its voyage to Haugesund.
