Piston damage off Atalanti
The 'NS Mermaid' suffered a damage to the pistons of its main engine 2,5 miles south of the port of Atalanti on Nov 7, 2020, at noon. The vessel had sailed from Durres to Elefsina with eight crew members in ballast. With the assistance of a port tug the ship moored safely at a berth in Piraeus on Nov 9 at 8.50 a.m. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus has detained the vessel in port until a class maintenance certificate has been issued.
Ban of M/V "MERMAID” has been lifted
On 14th March 2014 the M/V "MERMAID" with IMO number 8505181 (flag Moldova) was banned by Denmark. The refusal of access to Paris MoU ports has been cancelled on 10th March 2015.
Mermaid failed port state control
The "Mermaid" has been barred from European Union ports for three months after failing a second port state control check in 36 months. The vessel was held at Aabenraa after entering port on Mar 9, 2014, in because of a breach of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC). The vessel had no contracts for its crew. The detention was the result of the Danish Maritime Authority’s increased focus on MLC checks. The "Mermaid" had previously been detained in Germany with safety deficiencies in July 2013. The vessel is listed as owned by Arne Shipholding and managed by Success M&S Maritime of Greece.
