Ferry listed heavily in choppy seas
The 'Massachusetts' on its way to Boston listed heavily twice in the morning of Dec 2, 2019, knocking passengers to the deck and making some fear that the ferry was about to capsize. She had left Hingham and hit choppy water near Castle Island, causing it to list to portside. The second time it happened the vessel tilted so far that it seemed perilously close to capsizing. Commuters on the upper deck went sprawling. A lot of people fell on the deck. The captain apologized over the intercom. The vessel continued to Rowes Wharf in Boston. The 'Massachusetts' has been replaced by a catamaran which offered increased stability in choppy conditions.
