Mechanical problem caused water leakage
The 'Hydro Pioneer' encountered a mechanical problems during its voyage from Benbecula to Stornoway which led to a leakage of saltwater in the engine room in position 57 29 01N, 007 06 15W, in the Minch on Aug 26, 2021, at 8.30 p.m. It had to jettison some weak marine diesel mix over the side in order to preserve the stability. This could have possibly caused to trail of pollution, salt water mixed with oil off Stornoway. The vessel arrived at the port on Aug 27 at 10 a.m. It left the port again at 11.15 p.m., headed to Greanamul.
Disabled standby vessel towed to Stornoway
The 'Hydro Pioneer' en route from Stornoway, suffered a propulsion system failure, in position 58 25 00 N, 006 38 23 W on Jan 4, 2020, at 4 p.m. The ETV 'Ievoli Black' has been dispatched to assist the vessel. Also, the Stornoway RNLI ALB has been dispatched. The tug 'Helen Mary' (IMO: 9729130) initially took the vessel in tow at 7.15 p.m. The tow broke at 8.20 p.m. and was re-established at 10.35 p.m. before the 'Ievoli Black' took over after arriving on scene at 02.15 a.m. on Jan 5. The Stornoway RNLI ALB departed the scence at 2.30 a.m. The disabled safety vessel was towed back into Stornoway at 5 a.m.
Water ingress in Kristiansund
The "Atlantic Sea" suffered water ingress at the quay of a yard in Kristiansund in the morning of July 25, 2018. The fire brigade was alerted and laid out an oil boom around the ship. The leak could be sealed and the water was pumped out.
