Passenger medevaced in Bermuda
A 74-year-old female passenger from Belgium caused the 'Oasis of the Seas' to return to Bermuda on April 24, 2024, at 5 a.m. The ship, which en route from Miami, Florida to Cadiz, arrived in local waters at 1 a.m. to drop off a 69-year-old passenger from the USA, who needed medical attention. The passenger was taken to Ordnance Island and escorted safely to KEMH.
Defective part caused speed lowering
The 'Oasis of the Seas', en route from Cape Liberty, New Jersey to Port Canaveral, suffered a propulsion issue that impacted the vessel's speed and delayed by an hour in reaching Port Canaveral on Oct 3, 2023. Guests onboard were notified by announcements made by the captain, as well as a letter delivered to their staterooms, of the need for speed adjustment. An electrical component in one of the three propulsion pods needed replacing, and as a precaution the ship lowered its speed and did not arrive at Port Canaveral until 2 p.m. instead of 1 p.m.
Passenger died on board
After the death of a passenger on board, the 'Oasis of the Seas' returned to Port Miami on Jan 23, 2022. The death was the result of a medical episode. The ship had set sail with just under 5,000 passengers and was in port to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Atlantis Cruises, an annual charter cruise event.
