Grounding in Busan, bunker fuel spill
The "Ocean Tango" ran aground during a storm which battered Busan on Apr 17, 2016. The vessel had been docked in the Yeong-gu area. The fuel tanks were damaged when the ship was battered in the surf, and fuel leaked out. Patrol guards, marine environment experts and the Busan Port Authority deployed 20 ships with oil absorbents to remove the oil slick off the shore and contain it with an oil boom. On shore, more than 800 Coast Guard personnel were mobilized to clean the rocks. The ship had on board 97 tons bunker C oil and 10 tons diesel fuel.
