Burnt out lube oil pump
On May 6, 2021, the 'San Diego Bridge' with 21 crew members on board, suffered a burnt out lube oil pump of main engine 1. The ship was moored at the GCT Delta port in Vancouver, British Columbia. It moved to the English Bay Anchorage 1 for repairs and left the same day, headed to Tokyo with an ETA as of May 17.
Containership in near collision with yacht with dead skipper
On Sep 2, 2012, around 2 p.m. the water police Cuxhaven was notified by the pilot of "San Diego Bridge“ which was running Elbe downstream about a yacht which had crossed the fairway very close to the ship. The pilot had remarked a person lying on deck that did not respond to typhon signals or the wake of the ship. The police boat "Bürgermeister Brauer“ headed for the yacht. Once aboard the "Knurrhahn“ they remarked an elder person on the foredeck with a bleeding head injury. Assisted by two paramedics which reached the yacht aboard the lifeboat "Gillis Gullbrandson" it was attempted to rescuscitate the unresponsive man. A physician who was taken aboard the yacht by the lifeboat "Hermann Helms" pronounced the man dead. The "Knurrhahn" was taken to Cuxhaven by the police and seized for investigations which revealed that the deceased was a 72-year-old man from Otterndorf. There were no indications of foul play. The further investigations were lead by the police in Cuxhaven.
