Pusher tug on fire

On Nov 13, 2019, the 'Sidex 2' caught fire while pushing a bauxite-loaded NAVROM convoy of six barges from Galaţi on the Danube in the area of Gropeni between Chiscani and Tichileşti in the Romanian Brăila district. The eight crew members of the tug were rescued unscathed. Three fire engines, two fire boats and one SMURD ambulance were dispatched by the Romanian Ministry of Defense and the Transport Police. First, the 'Smârdan' of the Romanian Navy, which had just returned from the maneuver Danube Protector, was on-site, taking over crew members of the tug and preventing a further spread of the fire, The fire fighting operation took several hours.
