Thu Nov 17 19:35:44 CET 2022 Timsen

The 'St.Cergue' with 26 crew members on board reported smoke coming from hold no 5 in the Gladstone Dock Liverpool, on Nov 15, 2022, at 7.30 p.m. UTC. The Crosby and Wirral CRTS were tasked along with AC15 to the dock for a multi agency incident. CRTS were deployed for the safety of fire and rescue officers and the ships crew. The AC15 attended as HM Coastguard incident commander and liaised with other emergency service commanders. Merseyside fire and rescue held operational responsibility throughout. At10.40 p.m. both the Corsby and the Wirral CRTS were stood down. At 11.10 p.m. the AC15 stood down with an agreed plan to return at 10 a.m. the following morning as the cargo hold was due to be opened. The hold was inspected by the fire service and there were no visible flames, temperature reading was 24 deg. AC15 stood down after an inspection as deemed safe. DCPSO and duty surveyor were also informed. On Nov 16 hold no 5 was to be opened and checked for any fire, ships crew was ready with fire fighting equipment along with Merseyside fire and rescue. Fire was investigated and monitored with thermal imaging and handover back to the vessel. The hold was closed overnight to allow CO2 firefighting equipment to work and fire service wanted to re investigate in the morning. The AC15 departed the scene. Coastguard assets stood down, fire service maintained watch and handed incident to be managed by the vessel as deemed safe. The vessel was carrying 10,000 tonnes of scrap metal as cargo on board.
