Crane was in danger to collapse onto tanker

Fri Nov 21 10:09:38 CET 2014 Timsen

The 150-tons-crane of a floating dock which partially sank in Drammen was in danger of collapsing onto the "Tigris" in the morning of Nov 21, 2014. The fire department was working to rectify the crane and was joined by crews from Drammen to move away the tanker. The police Søndre Buskerud had been notified of the incident around 7 a.m., and all emergency services were alerted. The crane which was approximately 30 meter high was in danger of tipping over. The fire department was retrieving pump equipment in order to pump out the water out of the dock which tilted about 25-30 degrees. Divers from the fire department were trying to locate and seal the leak. At 8 a.m. the tankerwas moved away from the dock and out of the danger zone. The floating dock was meanwhile resting on the harbour bottom with one side. At 9 a.m. there weree reports that the crane was about to be stabilized. After the open slots in the dock were about to be sealed, water was being pumped out. At 9:45 a.m. thedivers have finished the work. Two leaky hatches could have been the cause of the water ingress.
