Owner of drug cutter appeared at the court

Wed Sep 13 10:22:11 CEST 2017 Timsen

The owner of the "Dubbele Senior - Z181" knew his ship was smuggling drugs. He would receive 300,000 Euros for that, appeared on Sep 12 during the Amsterdam lawsuit. He was accused along with two other men, a Polish and a Montenegro man, for drug trafficking. In June, the police had discovered 260 kilos of cocaine in a hidden space on board. The drugs had a street value of 10 million Euros and were in bags that were still wet. Four of the five suspects in the case were crew members of the ship. The fifth suspect was the owner. He was seen by a police observation team at Urk and in Lelystad with a contact person who brought the coke onto the ship. The 13 bags with drugs were thrown into the North Sea later. The police also intercepted encrypted messages between top criminals. In those the name of the "Dubbele Senior" was mentioned. The lawyer of the owner told the court that the man pulled the coke out of the sea because he was threatened by the organization behind the drug transport. The Public Prosecution Service believed nothing about that story. After his arrest, his family was also threatened. Therefore, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Urker Police took extra care for his family. The five suspects were still in jail. In March 2018 the court will handle the matter in substance. Last week, the police arrested two more men for involvement in the case. They both came from the North-Netherlands and also were tracked via encrypted messages. These two men will appear at the court at a later time. They were also suspected in other cases, including involvement in attempted murder.

Trawler allowed to fish again

Tue Jun 27 12:13:02 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Dubbele Senior - Z181" which was seized on June 10 with 300 pounds of cocaine aboard, was released last week, allowing the vessel to fish again. In the evening of June 25 she left the port of Harlingen and reached fishing grounds north-west of Vlieland in the afternoon of June 26. The seizure of the ship will remain in force. Two weeks ago, the judge decided to hold the five arrested crew members for 14 days. In the course of June 27, the board of directors will decide whether the men will stay arrested on for longer. If this is the case, that period may take up to 90 days.

Drug smuggling crew remains arrested

Thu Jun 15 10:43:19 CEST 2017 Timsen

The crew of five of the "Dubbele Senior" will remain arrested for at least two more weeks after 300 kilograms of cocaine were found on the ship on July 17. This has been determined by the Judge-Commissioner in Amsterdam in the afternoon of June 14. The five may only have contact with their lawyers. The Coast Guard with customs officers attended the ship on the North Sea on June 17, after which it was taken to Harlingen under supervision. In a hidden space on the ship, 13 bags of cocaine packets were found. The five crew members were a 38-year-old and a 30-year-old from Urk and a 42-year-old and a 37-year-old man from Montenegro. The latter does not belong to the normal crew of the vessel which fished for lobster and flatfish.
