Oil spill in Vanino
In the port of Vanino, during the bunkering by the tanker 'Nikolai Shalavin', oil spilled from the 'Star Audrey' in the night of Oct 10, 2019. About 300 liters of fuel oil were spilled. A small part of the fuel leaked onto the deck of the tanker, the other between the sides of the ships into the water. Anti pollution forces were sent to tackle the spill. The rescue boat “Rescuer Aleksyuk” was deployed to the anchorage of the tankers, and booms were laid out in which the oil could be contained. The bunkering was to be continued at daylight and the remaining oil on the water surface removed using skimmers. Both ships were stationary on the anchorage in the evening.
