Tanker unloads Russian disel in Wilhelmshaven

Wed Jan 18 13:11:34 CET 2023 Timsen

The 'Ane', loaded with 40,000 tons of Russian diesel, is unloading its cargo at the berth 1 of the Wilhelmshavener Raffineriegesellschaft on Jan 17, 2023. This is possible because the fuel sanctions only come into effect at the beginning of February. The diesel was loaded in Vysotsk. The ship is moving within the framework of the EU sanctions against Russia, according to which the shipment of diesel into the European Union is currently still permitted. Short-term, one-off transactions are permitted, as confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Economics. Before the sanctions come into force on February 5, companies are therefore still stocking up on diesel. Crude oil imports from the Russian Federation are prohibited.

The US Coast Guard medevaced a 48-year-old man off the "Ance" approximately 14 miles south of Galveston, Texas, on July 14, 2018. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the captain of the tanker for the medevac of a crewmember who was reportedly suffering from chest pains. Watchstanders notified the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene and transported the crewmember to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. The mariner was reported in stable condition.
