Italian crew of arrested vessel repatriated

Mon Feb 08 12:34:13 CET 2021 Timsen

The first 7 Italian crew members of the 'Antonella Lembo' which has been seized in China since June 2020, have arrived home. The ship, along with the 'MBA Giovanni', both of the Neapolitan company Giovanni Bottiglieri, had remained stationary off the port of Huanghua, due to the dispute trade between China and Australia, which prevented unloading the cargo of 91,500 tons of coal. Departing from Beijing airport flying via Paris, they arrived in Rome yesterday from where they were then reunited with their families. For the seven Filipino seafarers who were on board the ship, unfortunately, the affair has not yet ended because a diplomatic solution has not yet been found that would allow them to disembark. On the other hand, the crew of the 'MBA Giovanni', six Italians and 13 Filipinos, will remain on board until they get replaced in a couple of weeks after which they will be able to return to Italy.
