Ship sailing again days after cargo fire

Fri Mar 18 19:20:28 CET 2022 Timsen

After a fire broke out in containers containing pressed wood at the aft of the 'APL Cairo', while arriving in the waters of Binh Thuan, the captain, to prevent it from spreading, steered the ship to buoy No.0 off the coast of Vung Tau about 50 kilometers away. Ships started spraying water to cool and isolate the fire. Firefighters used a special machine to cut the container and pull the water cannon inside to extinguish the fire. The affected containers have been unloaded after the fire was completely extinguished at the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port. Approximately 38 containers in total were damaged, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation. The ship sailed from Cai Me on March 16 at 09.30 a.m. UTC,headed to Hongkong with an ETA as of March 19.
