Ferry participated in rescue operation

The 'Aqua Jewel' participated in a rescue operation in Kythira on Oct 5, 2022, at 8.45 p.m. A vessel was in danger near the port of Diakofti, Kythira Prefecture. At around 5 p.m. a patrol boat rushed to the spot. At 9.08 p.m. the distressed boat hit a rocky steep area and remained semi-submerged.

Cable of ramp broke

The Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed in the morning of May 24, 2022, by the Captain of the 'Aqua Jewel' that during the process of removing the left car ramp for control procedures before its departure from port, a cable broke. The Port Authority initially prohibited the departure of the ferry. After conducting an inspection and presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the classification society, it was allowed to continue its scheduled route to the ports of Kythira and Kissamos.

Ferry grounded in Gythio

The 'Aqua Jewel', en route from Kythira, ran aground in the late afternoon of Dec 9 in the shallows of the port of Gythio in pos. 36° 45' 37.0" N, 022° 34' 13.0" E. The ship had 39 passengers, 36 crew members, 15 vehicles and five trucks on board. No injuries were reported. Booms have been placed around the ship. A tug was called to refloat it.
