The "Atlantic Project" got into a desperate situation off Kotschin. The ship underway from China to Sri Lanka with a cargo of fertilizer reached Kotschin for refuelling on Mar 26, 2010. Due to trouble with the ship's owner, the receiver of the cargo, Natural Environmental Protection Group Ltd, asked for a detention of the ship but a court in London refused this. The ship meanwhile ran out of fuel while anchoring 13 miles off the harbour. All machines except an emergency generator had to be shut off, air condition, electricity, refrigerators closed down. There is no fresh water available. Three members of the Ukrainian crew of 21 are in need of medical care. The port authorities, however, refused the entry of the ship.
