Deadly accident during crew transfer

During a crew transfer in international waters off the Liberian coast in the morning of Oct 3, 2020, which took place between the bulk carrier 'Servet Ana' (IMO: 9443774), and the 'Baku', both being operated by the Deval Nakliyet AS in Istanbul, a rescue boat of the 'Servet Ana' capsized between the two ships. On board were two offsigners of the bulk carrier, who were to be taken home to the Turkey, and two boat operators. All four people fell into the water. The 'Servet Ana' launched its free fall lifeboat to pick up the men. One of them died despite all first-aid efforts. On Oct 6 at 11.100 p.m., the 'Servet Ana', which had sailed from Freetown on Oct 1, berthed in the port of Abidjan. The 'Baku' was under way, en route from Port Harcourt to Montoir-en-Bretagne, ETA Oct 13.

Engine failure in Istanbul Strait

The "Baku", en route from Constantza to Casablanca in a laden condition, suffered engine failure during the Istanbul Strait passage at Anadolu Kavagi point on Nov 28, 2018, at 10 p.m. The coastal safety tugs "Kurtarma-3" and "Kurtarma-7" attended to provide further assistance for vessel and strait traffic safety. The vessel resumed the passage under the supervision of coastal safety tugs and moored at Istanbul anchorage for permanent repairs at 11.10 p.m. On Nov 29 at 1.45 p.m. it resumed the voyage an anchored off Casablanca on Dec 8.
