Freighter refloated

The 'Banu S', which had run aground at Bozcaada Taş Adası due to a rudder failure, was safely refloated at 4.10 p.m. on April 16. A tug deployed by Kıyı Emniyeti Genel Müdürlüğü, assisted by a lifeboat, attached to the stern and pulled the ship backc into deeper water. Grounding on Taş island

Enroute frmo Marmara Ereglisi to Nemrut the Turkish flagged cargo m/v 'Banu S' ran aground with nine crew members on board on the rocky shore of Taş island, east of Bozcaada, in the morning of April 16, 2021. The grounding occurred due to a rudder failure in the morning of April 16. After the captain of the ship notified the situation to the Çanakkale Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate, the SAR tug 'Türkeli' was deployed to the grounding site.
