Broken rudder in Smalls TSS

The 'Beaumotion', en route from Belfast to Thamesport with 3.467 tonnes of aggregate as cargo, was adrift due to a broken rudder in position 51 45 33 N, 005 44 29 W, about 3,5 nautical miles from the Smalls on March 11, 2022, at 10.50 a.m. The ship, in a position east of the Smalls Traffic Separation Scheme, was using its stern power to proceed to a position with suitable depth to anchor. The tug 'Ocean Bank' (IMO: 7222968) was proceeding from Castletownbere to the ship to tow it to a repair place.

Gearbox damage on freighter Beaumotion, towed to brunsbüttel

The "Beaumotion" sailing under the Dutch flag remained in the Fischerhütte siding with a damage to the gearbox. Since the ship could not stay safely there because of the weather conditions, a towing was arranged in consultation with the district center of the shipping administration. The tugs "Bugsier 10" and "Wal" of the Hamburg shipping company Bugsier brought the ship on Saturday to Brunsbüttel, where the gearbox has to be repaired. A gust of wind in Brunsbüttel already on Fridays the freighter "Wilson Tyne" the middle wall of the large south sluice. The ship and the lock wall were only slightly damaged.
