Detained ship released after 11 months

Wed Jan 15 12:25:20 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Dallas' which has been detained in Sidon port for more than nine months was released following the resolution of a legal dispute over compensation for its damaged cargo. The ship docked at the port of Sidon in March 2019, carrying a consignment of marble ordered by a tradesman in south Lebanon. Some of the marble was damaged during the voyage, which led the tradesman to open a legal suit against the ship’s operating company. Lebanese authorities lifted the ban on the ship setting sail after the disputing parties agreed to equally share the cost of the damage. The Egyptian crew of eight people have been staying aboard the vessel during the detention in Sidon. The crew had been obligated to carry out non-standard maintenance work owing to the vessel’s extended stay in Sidon port, which has affected its readiness to sail. Captain Adel Tahan hoped to be able to leave with the ship’s goods in 10 days.

Detention after port state control

Wed Mar 14 12:20:35 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Bee" was subject of a port state control in Tsiggelion and was held until March 9, 2018, due to a number of defiencies. The ship lacked certificates and documentation. The ISM Certificate was not Approved and the rescue equipment including lifeboats was not in accordance with the regulations. And even more serious were structural shortcomings. On March 12 the ship moored at Tuzla anchorage.
