Engine blackout in Brunsbüttel

Wed Apr 17 09:25:18 CEST 2019 Timsen

Upon entering the new Southern lock of the Kiel-Canal in Brunsbüttel the "Unispirit" suffered a completed engine blackout on April 16, 2019, at 4.50 p.m. and was threatened to drift into the embankment of the new foreport. The two tugs "Parat" and "Bugsier 22" were immediately alerted and managed to get the ship under control in time. It was then towed into the lock. After the transit into the Kiel Canal the tugs "Parat" and "Luchs" pulled the vessel to the railway station pilings in the canal port of Brunsbüttel for surveys and confirmation of class certificate. The vessel was enroute from Hamburg, where it had sailed at 3 p.m. to Rostock. It sailed again on April 19 at 2 a.m. and resumed its voyage. She moored on Rostock anchorage at 4.30 p.m. in pos. 54° 12.78' N 011° 59.61' E. German report with photos: https://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23&p=158637#p158637
