Blue Sirius back in Tallinn
The "Blue Sirius" was righted on Aug 20 andpulled off the ground at Aegna. The wreck was stabilized with pontoons and towed to the Noblessneri port by the tug "Kake" at 3 p.m. Here the damage will be assessed. The starboard side of the schooner was severely damaged with parts of the hull torn off. Salvage work has started
In the morning of Aug 18 the jack up barge "Fort Ehituse" started to dig out a canal for the "Blue Sirius". A salvage attempt was planned on Aug 21 at the earliest. The Operation was going well aheds so far, the barge started to dig out gravel at the starboard side of the schooner, thereby trying to get closer to the grounded ship. Later pontoons were to be fixed to the ship's sides in order to stabilize it. Excavator digging way for Blue Sirius off the rocks
On Aug 17 the dredger barge "Fort Ehituse" pulled by the tug "Kake" left the port of Tallinn bound for the grounding site of the "Blue Sirius" off Aegna. The dredger was to be used to deepen the water. The excavator on the deck of the jack-up-barge started its work the same evening. Later the "Blue Sirius" needs to be patched up and dewatered before it may be floated off.
