Medevac off Charleston

Wed Sep 19 10:18:08 CEST 2012 Timsen

A U.S. Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Charleston, S.C., medically evacuated a 42-year-old Russian citizen aboard the "Clipper Tenacious" in the Charleston Harbor after he started to experience abdominal pains on Sep 18, 2012. The shipping agent alerted Coast Guard Sector Charleston at 1:37 p.m of condition of the man and that the vessel would be heading towards the Charleston Harbor. After consulting a Coast Guard flight surgeon, a medical evacuation was determined necessary. A boatcrew from Station Charleston launched aboard a 41-foot Utility Boat and met the Clipper Tenacious in the harbor at 4:27 p.m. Coast Guardsmen safely transferred the man aboard the UTB. The boat crew then took him ashore to awaiting emergency medical technicians.
