Dredger extracted bomb

Mon Jun 20 10:48:42 CEST 2011 Timsen

On June 19, 2011, the regional rescue center at Etek was informed that the "Côtes de Bretagne" had extracted a bomb off Bordeaux. The CROSS Etel informed the Naval Operation Center at Brest which requested a EC 225 helicopter from the naval air base Lanvéoc-Poulmic and a team of explosive disposal divers from the group of deminers from Brest. At 1.35 p.m. the EC 225 took off to the coast of Brittany where the dredger was positioned in the Gironde estuary about 3 km southwest of Meschers-en-Gironde. A diver and four deminers were winched onto the dredger and destroyed the bomb at 3.55 p.m.
