Tue Aug 22 11:27:08 CEST 2017 arnekiel

German opera singer Anna-Maria Kaufmann officially christened Crystal River Cruises’ first-ever newbuild river ship, Crystal Bach, during a traditional ceremony in Rüdesheim, Germany on 20 August 2017. Joining Crystal CEO and president Edie Rodriguez and the line’s longstanding entertainer and emcee Mark Farris, Kaufmann blessed the ship and broke a bottle of champagne over her hull to bring luck to all who sail on the vessel. Kaufmann then performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Air on the G String’ for invited attendees, which included the ship’s guests, local travel partners and executives from Crystal’s parent company, Genting Hong Kong. Crystal also broadcast the live stream of the ceremony via its Facebook page.

Crystal River Cruises Names German Soprano Vocalist as Godmother to New Ship

Wed Aug 16 12:24:33 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Crystal River Cruises has announced that soprano vocalist and German performer, Anna-Maria Kaufmann, will be the godmother of its new riverboat Crystal Bach. The newly-built "Rhine Class" river ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Amsterdam on Sunday, and will be christened by Kaufmann in Rudesheim, Germany, this Sunday. Crystal Bach is one of four new-builds in Crystal River Cruises' five-ship fleet and will sail Rhine, Main and Danube cruises with its twin sister, Crystal Mahler. Accommodating up to 110 passengers, Crystal Bach's cabins -- all suites -- will range in size from 220 to 750 square feet (a two-bedroom suite), encompassing industry-first king-size beds, walk-in closets and large bathrooms. As Crystal Bach's godmother, Kaufmann will bless the ship during the christening ceremony and serenade guests with a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Air".
