Cosco ship saved ten from sinking vessel

On Feb 28, 2017, the captain of the cargo vessel "Anna" issued a distress call at 04.09 a.m. in the Mediterranean Sea following water ingress in the cargo holds. The "Da Ji", which was 12 nm away from Anna, received the mayday call and immediately rushed to the position, arriving there at 5.10 a.m. Immediately communications between the vessels were established. The crew of the Cosco ship managed to rescue the first person from the sinking cargo vessel at 6.10 a.m. By 0743 hours, the ship sank in position 3248.9N, 01603.7E, and Da Ji’s crew hastened the rescue operations. By 08.50 a.m., all 10 crew members of the "Anna" were safely aboard the "Da Ji". The "Anna" had been enroute from Istanbul to Misrata when the accident happened. The "Da Ji", which had come from Alexandria, dropped anchor off Misrata in the morning of Mar 1.
