Abandoned by Iranian owner after police found drugs in Master’s cabin, Caspian sea
The crew of Iranian general cargo vessel Daryadel 1 (ex. Samur 20) asked Russian Seamen’s Union for assistance, being in a desperate situation. Vessel is anchored in Aktau port, Kazakhstan, Caspian sea, from Nov 22 2011. Vessel is arrested by authorities after they found drugs in Master’s cabin. Master of the vessel, Mr. Loghmanieh Farrokh, is a citizen of Iran. Vessel is anchored in anchorage area No 126, fresh water, provisions and lubricates are running out, sewage and bilge water tanks are full, but Port Aktau authorities deny any assistance and docking. Authorities took with them passport of all the 11 crew – 1 Iranian (Master), 6 Indians, 2 Russian and 2 Ukrainians. Ship owner, Iranian company DARYADELAN JAVID KHAZAR SHIPPING CO, is out of reach, nobody answers phone calls, mobile phones are switched off. Wages were not paid for the last two months. Iranian Consulate and agent company Best said they can’t help as long as there is no request from ship owner.
