Tankers had to leave La Coruña in emergency

The "Eagle Turin" and the "Sichem Hawk" had to leave their berths at the Repsol oil terminal in La Coruña after their mooring lines started to break one after another as strong wind and heavy waves hit the port in the morning of Nov 8, 2017. The first to leave was the "Eagle Turin" which had been offloading 83.000 tons of crude oil. Second was the "Sichem Hawk" , which had been loading diesel oil. After leaving port, the "Eagle Turin" was moving in legs off La Coruña, while the "Sichem Hawk" moved to the Ria de Bentranzos Bay north of La Coruna where she dropped anchor, awaiting the weather to improve.

Tanker provided distressed yacht with food

The yacht "Orinoco Flo" was found dismasted off the Cornish Coast by a helicopter of the RNAS Culdrose on June 12, 2012. The boat was to be towed to the Scillies by the RNLI-boat of St. Mary's. The owner had contacted Falmouth Coastguard on the May 27 concerned that the vessel was overdue. With the VHF radio limited in range after the mast broke, the passing "Eagle Turin" was the last boat to be in contact with the yacht on June 2 and had provided food, though the skipper declined any assistance deciding to continue on passage with a jury rigged sail. After Falmouth Coastguard involved the SAR helicopter from RNAS Culdrose the skipper was contacted again and he agreed to accept a tow form the St Mary's lifeboat which was duly despatched in the evening. After a tow of nearly 100 miles, the St Mary's lifeboat successfully brought the dismasted yacht alongside the quay in Hugh Town on St Mary's on june 12 at 7 a.m.
