Evergreen launches sixth new containership - 8,452 TEU - Ever Libra

Thu Oct 18 09:02:57 CEST 2012 arnekiel

Taiwan's container line Evergreen has launched its sixth new 8,452 teu containership from South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard on Tuesday, Seatrade Asia online reports. The containership Ever Libra will be delivered on 22 October. The vessel is fitted with alternative marine power, ballast water treatment system, electronic-controlled fuel-injection engine that supports slow steaming and other eco-friendly designs, according to Evergreen. For fleet rejuvenation, Evergreen commenced a new shipbuilding project in 2010 and ordered 20 L-type containerships from SHI. In 2011, Evergreen ordered a further 10 sister vessels with Taiwan Shipbuilding Corp. Seven of the 30 newbuildings are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
